Affirmations: You already say them all day long – my notes from Louise Hay

Affirmations: You already say them all day long – my notes from Louise Hay

I recently attended the”I Can Do It” conference in Sydney, run by Hay House. It was a very inspiring and informative day with all many of the greatest leaders in personal development, psychology and spiritual growth talking. Louise Hay, of the original affirmations book “You Can Heal Your life” and founder of Hay House, opened the conference.

Louise Hay is like the perfect Grandma. She sat on the front of the stage after a hip accident that she said “really slowed her down” and made her stop and think a bit more. Apparently she usually zips around with the vigor of someone half her hage. Her face is wise and beautiful, with a joy and compassion that shines in every word she says. She is 84 and an absolutely stunning human being. I have an AMAZING grandma myself, but if I had to have another one, I would pick Louise Hay.  🙂

Here are some of the ideas and notes I took from her opening presentation:

Every single thought is an affirmation, from the moment you wake up. To the moment you go to sleep, everything you say to yourself, all day long, is an affirmation. Every single thought sends out a vibration and creates our world. Every. Single. Thought. Notice your thoughts all day long?

What do you think when you first wake up? Do you snuggle and feel warm, cosy and grateful? Do you say “oh shit another day”  Louise says: “It’s going to be a wonderful day!” when she gets to the mirror she does her famous mirror affirmations, and she really means it when she says to herself “Darling, I really love you!”

What do you say when you get dressed? How do you think about or talk to your wardrobe? Do you say “Oh no I have nothing to wear?” or like Louise “Oh thank you closet, I’m so glad and grateful I have something wonderful to wear today!”

Observe what you are affirming to yourself all day long. Do you grumble and whine about things. Stop it.  Stop that thought dead in its tracks, because you whining about the problem is helping to manifest the very problem you are whining about!

Her talk really made me think about the couple of times a day when I make negative affirmations to myself. One of my past ones was “I’m not a morning person.” and in the morning I would say, “Oh it’s too cold to get up” and I would snuggle into my husband. Recently I have been getting up really early, and I realised I just never got up early enough to see if I was a morning person!! It’s really nice in the morning. Who knew??!  I still enjoy snuggles mind you, but now I can make a conscious and positive choice about whether I am going to get  up, and reinforce myself when I do get up early with positive thoughts and affirmations like. “It’s so easy to get up early, I’m going to get so much done today.”

Louise has written many books on the power of thoughts and mindset, if you haven’t read any yet, I would encourage you to. She is quite an inspiration.

Here are my Slim & Sexy Morning Affirmations, if you don’t already say them each and every morning, get to it, and notice how it begins to shift your inner perceptions about yourself.

  1. Hi Kylie – I went to the conference too! Isn't Louise amazing! Before I buy something new, I now ask myself, "Do I love this?" I really liked Robert Holden's talk too. I hope you're well.
