I have just started using this tool and I love it! I am already way more productive in just two days.
I’ve written about time management before, because it’s important. If you can’t manage your time well to support what you want, you won’t end up getting what you want. I’ve written about accountability, the 80/20 rule and the important / urgent quadrants and how much happier you’ll be if you spend more time in the important / not urgent quadrant. And I do follow my own advice, most of the time.
Everything on that list above I would like to do either daily or weekly. All of it is important and not urgent it follows the 80/ 20 rule: 20% effort/time = 80% results Some of those things, like exercise I have no problem doing at least 4-5 times per week. Others, like Object writing, a 10 minute songwriting exercise, I have difficulty doing every day. I needed to figure a way to make myself accountable to myself that was measurable. I came up with the sheet above.
It is so simple, I can’t believe I didn’t think of it before. I just tick off when I have done each of those daily actions and I can track how much I am actually walking my talk. Because walking my talk and leading by example is very important to me it gives me the extra inspiration and meaningfulness to propel me into the tasks. I am so happy with my simple little sheet I thought you might benefit from it too.
As you can see it’s just a spreadsheet. I have printed out a months worth and am just writing it in as I complete each task. I could do it on my computer, but I like it there above my desk, on my pin board reminding me about those tasks. I also have my yearly goal and life mission on my pin board, it reminds me why I’m doing what I’m doing. All of those little daily actions contribute to those big goals. So I know that if I do them I’m on track for the day, one more step towards my goals.
