Who thinks your thoughts?

Who thinks your thoughts?

Have you ever wondered who thinks your thoughts? You do, of course!

Your brain thinks approximately 40,000 to 70,000 thoughts per day. Most of these thoughts are the same thoughts you thought yesterday.

One of the immutable universal laws touched on in The Secret is the law of attraction: that an energy vibration attracts its like. That means that your thoughts become things. The energy of your thoughts attracts the energy of the thing it is. This is the law underpinning visualization and affirmations (which I strongly recommend).

So if you accept that your thoughts become things, the question of who’s thinking your thoughts becomes a hell of a lot more important. Your thoughts are your thoughts. Right? Well, sometimes. Sometimes your thoughts will be other people’s thoughts that you’ve taken on as your own. Ever heard your mother’s/ father’s/ teacher’s voice in your head? Often they will be chastising you or putting you down. At some point in your life (often when you’re young) when they said that to you, you chose to accept that and make it a part of your thoughts.

If you analyze the problems or challenges that you’re struggling with now, you’ll begin to notice how many negative thoughts are linked with them. For example, some people who are overweight might have thoughts like “I shouldn’t eat this”, “I can’t be bothered to go to the gym”, “God, I’m so fat.” These thoughts program your mind and create that reality for you. These thoughts might have started by trying to motivate you, but they don’t help. The good news is, if you think your thoughts, you can choose to think different thoughts.

Make a list now of all the nasty/disempowering thoughts that you have, then make a new list of the complete opposite, a positive, empowering thought. When the old thought pops into your head, say “no” to it, push it out of your mind and repeat the new thought to yourself 3 times.

If you start to really notice your thoughts and begin to choose empowering thoughts, you will be amazed at the change it makes in your life.

The supercharged version of this is focused visualization.

Visualize in complete detail a goal that you would like, see yourself in the moment of having achieved it. See what you would see, hear what you will hear and get the feelings of having achieved it. Visualize this every morning and night when you wake and before you go to sleep.

Start to take charge of your thoughts and you’ll notice your life begin to change.
